Malaysia’s third busiest airport has the official IATA code of PEN – standing in for Penang International Airport (also PIA). Located a mere 9.9 miles/16 km south of George Town, the airport serves a large region and provides extensive links with major cities across Southeast Asia and beyond. 

The taxi fare from PEN to the George Town is around RM 38 during the day, and an additional surcharge of 50% will be applied during the hours of 12am to 6am. Grab (app-based ride hailing) is also available from the airport and common mode of transport for tourist within the city area. George Town is also serviced by taxis, Grab and public buses. Visitors may also opt for bicycle rentals or walking around the city.
