The conference will be held at the Penang House of Music (PHoM), KOMTAR, George Town, Penang Malaysia. PHoM has been at the forefront of popular music and performing arts preservation, documentation, research, and public engagement since its establishment as a gallery and resource centre in 2007. As a Penang state government funded endeavour, the PHoM has opened its doors to a diverse range of visitors as well serious researchers, in line with the state government’s aim and vision of establishing a heritage and creative arts city. Thus, PHoM engages frequently with the local and international community by holding public events on issues in performing and creative arts heritage. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, PHoM has been focussing its resources on historical creative arts research, artefact preservation and digitalisation. It welcomes collaboration with researchers who are interested in exploring their resources on Southeast Asian and Asian popular culture (e.g., photos, music records, entertainment magazines) to produce original and path-breaking research on the creative arts in the region.
